Photoshop Workshop

I have been using Adobe Photoshop for several years to primarily clean and enhance images for research purposes. I enjoy wildlife photography, so in addition to research-related purposes, I have used Photoshop in the past to edit and add effects to photographs in my leisure time. This software tool is useful for researchers and educators in many ways and one of the many applications is using Photoshop to generate high-resolution figures for publications. Even though the software is extremely versatile, it can be confusing and time-consuming to navigate. For example, it can be difficult to identify which tools or approaches are ideal for different image editing purposes. In my experience, a tool which I have had experience working with might not work as effectively for a slightly different image enhancing technique than what I am used to.

PHOTOSHOP WORKSHOP

The Photoshop workshop organized by the Florida Museum Student Association (FMSA) and led by Krista Koeller (a graduate student in the Department of Biology, UF) was very useful and it helped clarify many questions I had on image enhancing techniques, using different tools, and working with multiple layers. Krista clearly explained the techniques using step-by-step instructions. The workshop was well-paced, and I liked how we were able to follow Krista and do the activity with her. The handouts and links shared were very useful and Krista answered questions very clearly. The workshop was very useful, it was a great learning experience and it helped me improve and brush up my Photoshop skills. I am extremely grateful to Krista and the FMSA for organizing this workshop!
