In order to help graduate students transition to working from home during the pandemic, we started off with the social arm of our 3-tiered structure. We hoped to engage students interested by focusing on our emotional, mental, and physical health. Three opportunities were offered – we will be profiling these activities in a series of posts from students involved.
Movie Night

We hosted 4 movie night sessions where we hoped students would feel comfortable chilling in their jammies with their friends and colleagues! Though it was quite enthralling to share laughs and comments over ZOOM, we found it difficult to find the perfect 2-hour time slot to engage folks via this outlet. Nonetheless, good times were had by all!
Zumba

This event was designed to get students moving by engaging in cardio exercise with their friends and colleagues. A lunchtime offering seemed like a perfect way to start the week off on Monday, as several students, PostDocs and staff joined these sessions to get a physical activity break during the workday.
Game Night

This activity was designed as an easy way to release stress over friendly rivalry in a series of virtual games with friends and colleagues. Students who joined these bi-weekly sessions chose games that interested them and hung out with friends. Trivia and Codenames were two very popular picks, while Pictionary was added for an extreme mental release.
